Playground Equipment Safety

Two weeks ago, the nation’s First Family debuted their newest addition to the White House: a spiffy new wooden swing set for daughters Sasha and Malia. More aptly termed a “play system” due to its numerous features like a fort, climbing wall/ropes, slide and tire swing, the presidential purchase promptly cast the spotlight on the Brookings, S.D.-based company which manufactured it: Rainbow Play Systems.

For even more safety tips consider homemade vs. a commercially made product. For example, rope ladders 36 inches wide with marine grade rope and hardwood dowels come ready to install for $60. Smaller 18 inch wide ones are about $40. If you make your own insure the materials are strong enough to bear the weight and abuse doled out to them.

Swings are another plaything that has to be inspected. There are certain minimum distances between the swings and the support structures. Run down and poorly maintained equipment are also dangerous. So are broken glass and trash bins. Illustrated poster safety sign can be understood by any adult supervising children at the playground.

Mulch is also an excellent product for your gardens. It does not attract insects and thus keeps your garden clean and safe for your kids to play. Surfaces installed with mulch are easy to clean and needs less maintenance. Mulch is totally safe and does not allow weeds to grow on it. This superb product is quite durable and has no effect of harsh climatic conditions on it.

Rubber mulch is a recycled product made by used tires. Thus, it is an eco-friendly product that is good for environment and 안전놀이터. The best thing about this product is that it is again recyclable.

Children should be taught the dangers of using wet playground equipment. Parents must point out that moisture causes the surfaces to be slippery and could lead to accidents.

The first and best, line of defense against the sun is covering up. Wear a hat with a three-inch brim or a bill facing forward, sunglasses (look for sunglasses that block 99-100% of ultraviolet rays), and cotton clothing with a tight weave.

A swing set can provide much activity and exercise for children right in their back yard that is better than going to public areas and without the playground bully to steal the swing time! Keep common sense safety tips in mind, consult a variety of sites and plans for the design of the swing set and tailor it to your children’s interests. It’s a can’t miss combination!
